Coaching
Coaching may be for you if you are looking to achieve more of what you desire in your work, personal, and/or social life. Moreover it is about becoming who you want to be. And, it may mean removing things you don't want to be, do, or have.
Coaching works over a period of time by encouraging a shift in who you are, what you do, and how you do it. By offering a respectful, inquiring form of conversation and listening, coaching expands your ability to make significant changes, move forward in new areas and have more of what you want in your life. By stimulating new thoughts and ideas, coaching allows individuals to explore a broader array of actions than before.
Coaching can provide a welcome opportunity for people personally and professionally, to achieve greater success and happiness by exploring interests, goals, passion, and purpose. We like to assess your strengths and then build on them. Coaching allows people to review their experiences, thoughts, attitudes, decisions and behaviors in a nonjudgmental, trusting and encouraging environment. The result is often greater freedom to explore new options, to create a deeper understanding of personal accountability, and to make better choices for the future.
No change can happen unless the person being coached wants change to happen. Coaching requires that the coachee be open to being coached, which means being open to making changes in themselves and in their circumstances. While coaching offers great potential for personal improvement and greater success, a person must be willing to work on increasing self awareness and then make changes, sometimes within themselves, in order to effectively achieve their desired goals.

The Human Need For Self Actualization
Sometimes, especially when experiencing significant changes (events and thoughts), we may realize we have just slid back a step or two on Maslow's Heirarchy of needs. Losing a job, ending a significant relationship, moving to a new city or country can sometimes feel like a major loss in some ways. There may be confusion, loss of income, status, or comforts we became used to. The good part is it can quickly get us in touch with our need to realize our full potential.
At other times, we come to a place where we realize we haven't achieved as much as we want. And, we want to get back on track, or as Maslow would say, become more self-actualized.

Coaching Sessions - What to Expect
Coaching is a specific process of interactions over a period of time that encourages a shift in who you are, what you do, and how you do it. By stimulating new thoughts and ideas, coaching allows a broader array of actions than before. By offering a respectful, inquiring form of conversation and listening, a coach supports and advocates for you and is "on your team". In this way, coaching expands your ability to make significant changes, move forward in new areas and have more of what you want in your life.
Several things help ensure the greatest results from coaching:
Most coaching is conducted by telephone and sessions are scheduled at a regular and mutually-agreed upon time each week. However, we understand that at times unavoidable needs arise and we will make effort to respond flexibly.
Coaching sessions are strictly confidential. No information provided during coaching sessions will be discussed with anyone else without your permission. Occasionally, clients are asked if we can share their success story. In all cases, names and other identifying factors will be kept confidential. This is always permission based.
Several things help ensure the greatest results from coaching:
- Complete a coaching agreement, which outlines the nature of coaching, client and coach expectations, the coaching schedule, and confidentiality.
- Commit to a minimum of three-months of coaching.
- Prepare for each session by reflecting on what progress has been made and then considering how you would like to use the upcoming session. Forms will be provided for this prior to each regular coaching session.
